The Church of Our Lady of Glyki (Panagias Glukis) in the village next to Acheron is in ruins today. It was built as a basilica in the Middle Byzantine period. Some early Christian churches were located in the same position, and some architectural parts from those churches still remain. According to the tradition, the church was built by St. Donatos, bishop of Evria, with the support of the emperor Theodosios the Great in the 4th century AD. In previous excavations several tombs, old
Christian columns, middle Byzantine reliefs and coins from various eras were found.
