The Monastery of St. John the Baptist of Velliani (Timiou Prodromou Vellianis) is built on the mountain Gorila above the village Chrysavgi of Paramythia. It was founded probably in the year 1630 according to the inscription, while the Catholico was renovated in 1838 by the Abbot hieromonk Leontios. The monastery has a beneficial presence in the region, but paid a high price during the Revolution of Epirus, after it was burned by the Turks on March 9, 1854. Today only the Katholikon,
a spacious basilica and a portion of the cells survive, but not in good condition. It belongs to the Monastery of Paganies.
