The Monastery St. Georgios of Kamitsiani (Agiou Georgiou Kamitsianis) is located on the road leading to Tsamantas within 32 miles of Filiates. The founding year of the monastery is unknown. It was renovated in the 18th century (1758-1773) by the monk Paisios on the ruins of the earlier Monastery that had been destroyed –for reasons not now known- in an earlier era. It was a rich Monastery, with a significant presence in the area.
Today, only the beautiful Katholikon is still in place, constructed of four cross-shaped columns with a domed roof. The fresco was made in 1789 and constitutes the only completely preserved wall painting in all of Thesprotia. The wooden templon dates to the same era, while the rest of the building complex is damaged. It is currently undergoing maintenance and reconstruction. It is celebrated on the day of the feast of St. George on the 23rd of April or Easter Monday with the participation of many pilgrims.
