The Folklore Museum of Foinikio is housed in a two storey building with four rooms.
The two rooms with their cellars were built during the Ottoman rule in order to accommodate the Turkish tax collectors during their stay in the village. It later functioned as a community office and guesthouse.
Four rooms of the museum mainly housed household items in four thematic categories. The first category of objects presented relate to rural and farming activities. The second category includes items found in the kitchen. The third category consists of items found in the attic, while the fourth exposed jewelry, religious items, documents, uniforms and handicraft items. The exhibits included are mainly from the period 1840-1970.
The museum carries out the collection, storage and maintenance of objects that reveal the cultural development of our country. The objective is to further the knowledge of the past and through this to help better the understanding of cultural evolution.
